The NJCAA baseball landscape is heating up as teams surge toward postseason glory. This week, three programs—Mineral Area (Div. 1), Wallace-Dothan (Div. 2), and Century (Div. 3)—delivered standout performances, combining explosive offense, lockdown pitching, and clutch moments to earn their spot in the spotlight. Let’s break down their remarkable weeks.
Division 1: Mineral Area Cardinals (6-0 | 15-Game Win Streak | #14 Ranking)
The Cardinals continue their meteoric rise, stretching their win streak to 15 games while climbing to their highest ranking of the year at #14. Their offense has been relentless, outscoring opponents 47-17 on the week, backed by a .326/.480/.451 slash line and a .931 OPS. The pitching staff was equally dominant, posting a 3.00 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 45 innings.
Key Highlights:
Three Rivers Series:
15-5 Run-Rule Victory: A 9-run 1st inning set the tone. Kely Robertson Jr. (LF) shined with a 2-4 day, including a triple and 4 RBI.
3-0 Shutout: Matthew Marsh’s 3 RBI in the 4th inning sealed the win.
St. Charles Series:
10-3 Rout: Cam Lee (CF) launched a HR and drove in 3, while Brad Chaisson (2B) added two doubles.
Noah Cassie (RF) was a constant threat, tallying 7 RBI across three games.
With a 1.311 WHIP and 79 total bases generated last week, Mineral Area is proving they’re a force to watch as playoffs loom.
Division 2: Wallace-Dothan Governors (Region 22 Champions)
After a rocky start, the Governors flipped the script, capturing both the ACCC Regular Season and Region 22 Tournament titles. Their postseason surge included outscoring foes 33-8, fueled by a 1.059 OPS and .349 team average. The pitching staff delivered a 2.63 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 24 innings.
Playoff Dominance:
5-1 vs. Central Alabama: Kase Gleaton (1B) sparked an 8th-inning rally with a 2-RBI double.
13-5 & 15-2 Wins Over Enterprise State:
Evan Taylor (SS) crushed a HR in Game 1, while Kason Gleaton (1B) drove in 4 RBI across the semi-finals and the Finals.
Now, Wallace-Dothan awaits the Region 8 champion for a shot at the JUCO World Series in Enid. Their blend of power (.547 SLG) and pitching precision (1.292 WHIP) makes them a dark horse contender.
Division 3: #5 Century College Wood Ducks (5-0 | 15-Game Win Streak)
Century’s offensive fireworks reached new heights, blasting 58 runs on a .396 team average and 1.283 OPS. The trio of Seth Nelson, Hunter Guenther, and Seth Tierney terrorized pitchers, combining for 27 RBI, 7 HR, and a 1.588 OPS from Guenther. The staff complemented them with a 2.92 ERA and 50 strikeouts.
Week of Wonders:
12-2, 8-0, 12-0 Run-Rule Wins: Tierney smashed 3 HR, while Guenther went 4-4 with a HR and 3B in one game.
Walk-Off Drama: Connor Larsen’s 7th-inning RBI single clinched a 5-4 thriller.
Pitching Gem: Joey Koch’s complete-game shutout (5 IP, 2 H, 4 K) highlighted the week.
Stat Stars:
Seth Nelson: .450 AVG, 8 RBI, 5 doubles.
Hunter Guenther: .471 AVG, 10 runs, 5 SB, and a 1.588 OPS while tossing 5 innings with a 1.80 ERA.
Seth Tierney: .476 AVG, 3 HR, 22 total bases.
Century’s balance of power, speed, and pitching depth cements them as a World Series favorite.
